For starters, let me congratulate you on your new purchase of carpet tiles. They are sure to provide you with the lasting look you are searching for.

Below are the descriptions, terms and installation instructions to help you with your upcoming project.

Installation Methods

  • ASHLAR: Slide each tile 1/2 way down the other, offsetting the front and back tile joints
  • BRICK METHOD: Slide each tile 1/2 way across the other, offset the side joints of each tile
  • MONOLITHIC: (Standard Installation) Follow the arrows on the back of each tile, pointing them all in the same direction.
  • QUARTER-TURN or PARQUET: Turn each tile 90 degrees from the previous one.
  • NON-DIRECTIONAL: Place tiles on floor in any direction/pattern you wish. Usually associated with tiles that have no directional arrows.
  • These are NOT the ONLY ways to install carpet tiles. You may get as creative as you wish. You may install the tiles by turning each tile 180 degrees from the other having the arrows all face opposite. You may also wish to use more than one color tile and CHECKERBOARD the floor.

How to Figure Square Yards

  • Measure the room.
  • Multiply length x width and divide by 9 = Square yards
  • L x W divided by 9 = Square yards
